Poetry for Charity

A project founded by Chiedu Ifeozo - a man who has his way with words. Poetry for charity is a project which aims to bring together several writers from various regions of the world using the facebook social networking website, with a common aim of donating their poems and spoken word pieces to be added to a collection. All the revenue raised from the sale of the book would be donated to 3 different charities for every edition of the collection. Read more here

After reading some of Chiedu's work, I was inspired to pick up my poem book and I found a poem/song i wrote in 2005 for the less privileged children in Nigeria and all over. I never recorded this song but a thought came to me today. I feel I should get my friend to play the guitar while I sing this song. we could make a video and share with yall. what do u think?

Do or Say

What would you say?

What would you do?
There's no gain but pain
in their sorrowful life

what would you say?
what would you do?
There's no fame but shame
in their painful life

If you are the answer to their problems
would you lend a helping hand?
will you be a shelter in the rain
so as to make a happy day?

If you only knew that you could make things new
will you be here
when no one's there
is all they'd ask

What would you say to take away the pain?
What would you do to wipe away the tears?
What would you say?
What would you do?

Long 4 u

I need you
Like a blanket in the winter.
Like an ocean without water,
I long for you.
My heart leaps for joy
Every time I hear your voice.
My soul shivers
When I think of your touch.

I want you
Like ice cream on a sunny day;
Like the soil is to a plant
I need you.
You are what keeps me going.
Thoughts of you make me quiver
With you my love
Is ever flowing.

When the day is bright,
I long for you.
When night comes to take away light
I want you more.
Every night, I cling to my teddy bear
Wishing it was you.
I long for you my love.
I long to be with you always…

If you're miles apart from that special one; this is for you. True Love prevails in the long run.

like the very first time
u came ova my crib.
And u got all scared, cause that roach was on yo timb
I was right there with a can o' spray to be ur super negro and save da day
I ain't even pay my light bills,so i can take u to the club....
Dont knock ova does candles and burn up my rug!
and dat nite we made luv,for a long liddle bit of time.
I hope u got yours cause i sho'nuff got mine.
I woke up early and made u breakfast in bed.
sep fo i ain't have no juice,
no grits and no eggs.
didn't have no cereal,
and was fresh outta milk.
so we had some toast and potato chips.
I use to rub lotion on ur feet,
and massage yo back I found u some clue,
when u lost ur tracks.
Now what man you knowded, ever loved you like dis?
Gurl please take my name off dat child support list.

Letter 2 Rwanda

You glanced at me
and I noticed .
I saw you.....
Our eyes met
and I blushed.
I usually look and look away
but in you case,
I looked, I accessed and I smiled because I caught your smile.
It was charming
The smile's so bright
It could light up one's night.

You walked past me
and my jaw dropped in awe.
You're a replica of beauty
Your walk, your style
dazed me.
Deep inside of you,
I saw a meek person.
You're good looking and quiet
Oh what a lovely combination!

Way past the darkness and excitement,
I saw you in your shades.
You walked away
to mingle with friends.
I walked up you,
with a huge smile,
held your hands
and moved to the beat.
You smiled and danced.

You took my hand,
made me spin
so I could see the light
You held me and made me move your way.
I took your hand,
made you spin
so you could see my beauty radiate.
I held you from the back
and made you move my way.
You blushed with a smile
as we danced the night away.

I wrote this poem on monday at 3:45pm. My weekend was fun-filled and someone in particular sparked my interest.... Could it be love at first sight?

Wonderful poem by a Powerful Poet

So you read the previous post and you know about the prayer water situation... my sis had an ear infection that bugged everyone in the house for a whole week. We thought it wasn't serious but it became unbearable and she was rushed to the ER in pain...After all the prescriptions and all... she was fairly relieved. I just told her to use the water mummy was sprinkling all over the house. She did and the swollen ear reduced in size and relieved her... God is good o. She's doing very fine as of now. She even went to the church picnic with moi yesterday. We played volley ball, badminton, soccer, dance in circles, and so on... imagine person wey dey cry before in pain running around the park with old church women. I testified on her behalf today.

The poem I'm about to share is one we all have access to. Some of us might have read it before..not here though. I read it for the first time and it made me shiver. I felt it's worth sharing. what do you think?...

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.

Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
