Greetings my friends, how una dey?

Today wasn't too bad I think. Despite the fact that my tank was on E, I drove the car all the way to work cos I didn't want to be late. Of course I had to race to the nearest gas station after work lol! On entering the gas station, i found the cashier on the phone and decided to give him a lil time to round up the conversation.

Dude just kept talking on the phone while staring at me (down there). I felt quite uncomfortable and wondered why his eyes were glued to that part of my body. Scared that my pants might be unzipped, I looked down only to see the 'bulge.'

Ladies: Don't you just hate those jeans that makes you look like you've got a male organ?

Unwrapped with Unspeakable Love

Olamild went on a date for the very 1st time. Don't ask how it went o lol...just read & enjoy!

How it all started

The day was bright and the weather was beautiful; Darius and I thought it'd be nice to take a walk. We didn't know where we were headed but we walked hand in hand on a straight path. The breeze blew sweet sounds to our ears as we walked towards a park. There were no seats so we sat on the grass. I looked around to confirm that the area was mosquito free; darius took pictures. We started to talk about how the week was and eventually transited into relationship talks. I uprooted some clean grass and weaved them together as Darius shared his thoughts on some issues.

Me: You know you could always talk to me about relationships; I am the love doctor [laughs]

Darius: How many serious relationships have you been in?

Me: [giving him the whatever-look]

Darius: Just kidding

Me: Hmm...Something just dawned on me. I've never actually been on a date. I've gone out with friends on several occasions but nothing serious. You know how you dress up to kill for the night and all...not me.

Darius: What are you doing tomorrow night?

Me: stopppp! I am not going anywhere with you o.

Darius: What are you doing? [serious look]

The Day

We went back and forth on whether I was free the next night and he won. I agreed to go on a date with him and planned to wear a T shirt and jeans so he'd know it's just casual as we are really good friends. I went to work the next morning without even thinking about what the night was gonna be like. At exactly 3:33 p.m., I got a text message from Darius. He wanted to know if I was looking forward to the night. He sent another message telling me to look my best. I told him I was planning on dressing casual and he insisted that I wear a dress because he was wearing a tuxedo. He kept texting to make sure I was heeding to his words; he eventually told me to flow with the river so I don't get drowned. I became very nervous. We agreed that he was going to pick me up at 8 o'clock. At 7:35, I was still contemplating on whether to dress casual or wear my long black dress. I was convinced when Shola stepped in and offered to help with the makeup, dress and all.

Shola: Oya sit down so we can do the makeup.

Me: Can we just use powder and carmex?

Shola: I am your makeup artist this evening and whatever I say or do goes. I know you've never used lip stick but we are going to give it a shot.

Me: What if it stains my teeth?

Shola: It wont! It all depends on how it is applied. Do as I do (smiley face with lips widely parted)

I tried imitating her but she bursted out laughing and said I looked nothing like she did. She instructed me to apply the lip stick like i would lip gloss and i did. It gave a tiny touch of color; Shola moisturized my hair and made sure my entire look was set. She walked me outside the room to take pictures and teased me.

Of course I was not ready at 8 o'clock. Darius kept texting to make sure I was having the "make-me-faint look." He showed up and asked Shola for his date; I blushed and stepped out gracefully. He opened the door for me and off we went. We talked and talked; I didn't bother to ask where we were going because my mind was made up...i was gonna go with the flow.

Darius: What kind of food do you like?

Me: African...Nigerian to be precise. My favorite food is jollof rice.

Darius: That's exactly what we are going to have. Let me just call the restaurant to make sure everything's set.

The Date

The conversation continued and he did not stop telling me how beautiful I was and looked that night. We drove to a familiar neighborhood and Darius said he was gonna pick something up from Carmen. We parked in front of Carmen's house and Darius told me to stay in the car. I thought he was gonna go into Carmen's to get whatever he wanted but he walked towards me and opened the door. He helped me out of the car and walked me to Carmen's porch. I knew I was in for a surprise when Darius pulled out the key to Carmen's. My heart skipped a beat as I walked up on the candle light stairs. Opening my mouth, I savored the air which was sweetened with the flavor of peace, love, and serenity. The table was neatly set for two. Darius offered me a seat and mumbled words that I didn't hear; I was still basking in the euphoria of the atmosphere. He offered us a drink and proceeded to the center of the room.

Darius: We've got strawberries, two kinds of grapes to choose from; jollof rice prepared just the way you like it, sweet cake for dessert and wine for later. We've got Brian McKnight's cd, John Legend...which one do you want us to listen to?

Me: [dazed] OMG! You did all this for me?

Darius: [handing me a card] Open it

Me: Awww

I opened my mouth to talk but words failed me. Darius fed me strawberries as we conversed. I asked if it was okay for me to serve us and he obliged; he told me the night was all about me - I needed to know my worth. He excused himself for about a minute and came back with a vase of flowers. They were freshly picked and beautifully colored. I wanted to jump up and hug him but cautioned myself.

Me: Carmen set me up

Darius: No she did not [smiles]

Me: You two set me up. I saw Carmen this evening and she did not tell me all this; she didn't even say she knew about the date. She actually bought me a dress today. I liked it but I didn't wear it because you told me not to come casual.

Darius: You liked it?

Me: Of course

Darius: How well do you like the dress she got you?

Me: I liked it a lot

Darius: Let's see how well you'd like the dress I bought you

Me: [gasping for breath] OMG!! Tell me this isn't real...pinch me and snap me back to reality please.

Darius: Everything's real. You deserve nothing but the best in life. You're beautiful and you don't even know your worth.

Me: No one's ever done this for me; I mean this is the sweetest thing anyone's ever done for me.

Darius: You deserve more. Open the box and tell me what you think of the dress

I embraced the box like my whole life was in it. Darius could not wait to see my expression, the camera flashed as I fumbled with the ribbons. The dress was simply beautiful. I wrapped the dress and placed it in the box while Darius walked over to the boom box. He walked towards me and asked me to dance. I walked up to him and kept a distance; he placed my hand on his shoulder and we danced to Back @ One by Brian McKnight. Immediately the song ended, I hurried to my seat; Darius played a movie. He turned to ask if I was ready to eat and I could not even talk. We ate, drank a little wine (non-alcoholic) and watched the movie.

Darius: Are you having a good time?

Me: Are you?

Darius: Best time of my life.

Me: Same here but OMG!

Darius: What?

Me: This is too much for me. Who are you again? Is this the Darius I know? I thought 9ja guys were not romantic o

Darius: I just want to put a smile on your face. You are very special and you must know it. How do you feel right now?

Me: Beautiful

Darius: You are beautiful

Me: Thank you...excuse me o. I know this feels like Hollywood and all but I gotta bring a little Nollywood in it. I have some tom tom in my purse that I want to lick if that's fine by you. You know we just had fish

Darius: You know you don't need that right now.

Me: Really? Don't worry, it'll only take a sec. I'll break and chew it very fast. You want some tom tom?

Darius: Nooo bush girl

Me: You can't turn me down. I didn't object when you offered me fruits. You must accept this one o.

We fought playfully and he accepted it. His plan for the night was for us to wine, dine and eventually go out to see the water falls. I told him I'd rather stay indoors and he said it was okay. I placed my head on his shoulders as we watched the movie. A while after, we had dessert, talked and danced again. We laughed about everything; every second was splendid. At the end of the night, Darius opened the door, carried my flower and dress to my front porch. `Sealed the night with a kiss on my wrist - the entire night was refreshingly thrilling.

MESSAGE 4 DARIUS

The phrase 'thank-you' is not enough to express my gratitude. You went out of your way to remind me that I am not just special on the date but always. I appreciate you and love you for all that you are to me. I have not been the same since the date; I wake up everyday feeling beautiful and confident, thank you for helping me to see and embrace the woman that I am on the inside - bold, black, beautiful & blessed.
